Wow it's been busy at home and at work. I'm working with a grassroots group to try to improve the quality of our municipal governments. We've go some town hall meetings this week. At work I'm sifting through a multitude of product versions.
Personally I'm trying to absorb a bunch of self-improvement stuff along the lines of the Law of Attraction. Apparently you get more of what you attract. If only I can find my purpose...

I moved to Canada from Massachusetts a while ago (ok I was born Canadian, but I never really fit in there). Canada is generally apathetic where politics is concerned, and we are currently in the throes of both a provincial (i.e. state-like) and municipal election. However I have lately seen some grassroots movements. Some folks are tired of the general mismanagement - starting at the municipal level and have decided to work together to improve the situation. I've joined the group as I am pretty particular about how my tax dollars are spent, and there ain't no Proposition 2.5 in Canada. Perhaps there is hope for Canadians after all.

The persistence of time.
Time doesn't persist. It evaporates. The summer flew by. I had so many things I wanted to get done but I just couldn't seem to get around to them. Where does the time go? I had the same July and August as everyone else, and I have no idea what I accomplished during that time. In fact, I can rarely remember what happened last weekend.
My mother in law was quite ill, and my wife spent most of the summer with her. She passed away a couple of weeks ago - a blessing really in this case. No, I'm not complaining about my mother in law - she was quite nice actually. But quality of life wasn't good, so it was for the best.

Ah, ubiquitous computing. I have wireless networks at home and in the office. With the tiniest laptop I can be connected almost anywhere. Sometimes I'll do a conference call and work out on the deck. If only they could invent a screen that is more readable in the sunlight.
So does everyone find themselves working more, or playing more? I have this insane need to be doing two things at once, so I can surf while sitting in bed watching tv - as I happen to be doing right now. There is no limit to where I can be.
So tell me, is there anyplace you absolutely wouldn't take your computer?

Overwhelmed?
The web is a big place. Duh!
Sometimes when I'm trying to get things done, I accidentally (intentionally?) start following web trails. I usually end up far from where I wanted to be, actually forgetting my original intent.
Serendipitously, I often get sidetracked to somewhere I'd like to be. Today I'm just exploring the vast cosmos of blogs. It is astounding at how much people have to say once you give them a voice...
